Prof. Zhou Minghui, Vice Dean of the School of Computer Science at Peking University, first reviewed the history of communications between the two institutions. Benefiting from the strong exchange foundation and mutual trust established through previous online meeting and in-person academic visit since January 2026, both sides have developed a shared vision for long-term international collaboration. This workshop represents a significant outcome of their sustained exchanges and ongoing engagement. She noted that, building upon this consensus, the two institutions would further explore more concrete, diverse, and sustainable pathways for cooperation to elevate academic exchange and research collaboration to a higher level.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Hu Zhenjiang, Dean of the School of Computer Science at Peking University, warmly welcomed all participants. He introduced the Schools broad-spectrum research structure, including its seven research institutes and one research center, as well as the eight representatives attending the workshop. He emphasized that the workshop would serve as a high-level platform for academic exchange and mark an important starting point for deeper future cooperation between the two institutions.

This was followed by remarks from Prof. Abdullah Saad Sultan, Dean of the College of Computing and Mathematics at KFUPM. He highlighted the opportunities brought by the continuously strengthening China–Saudi Arabia bilateral relationship and later briefly introduced the colleges academic structure and its undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.
